On the morning of October 7, 2023, Bar Kuperstein was working as a security guard at the Nova festival when Hamas attacked. Instead of running, he stayed to help rescue people. He was still there when Hamas took him into Gaza. For 738 days, the world had almost no news of him. No one knew where he was or what was happening to him. Here in Key Biscayne, we had one connection to Bar: his tefillin. His mother Julie had sent them with someone traveling to Miami, so that others could use them in his honor while he was in captivity. Dozens of men in our community came to put them on and pray for him. It was one of the most powerful moments our community has shared. Now Bar is coming to Key Biscayne to tell his story in his own words.
